ASEAN Joint Business Council discusses trade facilitation "ATF-JCC" emphasizes reducing costs by 10% in 2020. Mrs. Oramon Sapthaweetham Director-General of the Department of International Trade Negotiations Revealing the results of the 15th meeting of the ASEAN Joint Advisory Committee on Trade Facilitation (ATF-JCC), which Thailand hosted from 10 - 11 July 2019, where the meeting discussed important matters. namely 1. Implementation of the ASEAN Trade Facilitation Plan 2. Implementation of the ASEAN Non-Tariff Measures Guidelines (NTM Guidelines) 3. Actions to reduce intra-ASEAN trade transaction costs by 10% by 2020. 4. Development of the ASEAN trade data warehouse system and discussed with representatives of the ASEAN Joint Business Council As for the ASEAN trade facilitation plan All 10 member countries are ready to implement the guidelines on the use of NTM measures. They also confirmed the establishment of the National Committee for Trade Facilitation.
To supervise the use of its trade facilitation measures in line with World Trade Industry Email List Organization (WTO) regulations. For the goal of reducing trade transaction costs (Trade Transaction Cost: TTC), it will be reduced to 10 percent by 2020 according to the resolution of the ASEAN Economic Ministers' Meeting in 2017, which is now the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). It is working with 10 member countries to calculate figures that will be used as a measure of these cost reductions, including the time it takes for goods to be released at customs, the length of time the goods wait at ports. and the period of time it takes to issue a license It is expected to be completed in time for adoption by ASEAN. Including adding contact channels through the website for interested private individuals or entrepreneurs to inquire or report obstacles regarding government trade regulations. Can be reported through the ASSIST system (https://assist.asean.org/) so that government agencies in ASEAN can know and solve the problem further.
In 2018, trade between Thailand and ASEAN reached 113 billion USD, an increase of 13% from the previous year.
